A Faithful Agenda

We the people -- driven by our faith-rooted values of dignity, love of neighbor, and justice for all -- turned out in record numbers in 2020 to choose new leaders. We demand that our elected officials honor our will by passing policies that heal our wounds and meet our needs, reflect our values and remedy injustice. Our democracy and our lives hang in the balance.

At his inauguration, President Biden took office for a nation in crisis. The new Congress, already sworn in, had been rocked by an attempted coup. People in every community are suffering from the pandemic and deep systemic injustices, and struggling to make ends meet for our families.

We believe that justice and wholeness for all people is achievable. Our priorities for the first 100 days include legislation and executive action that begin this work. Sign on now to join our movement and our work!

--------------------

Our agenda for the first 100 days of this administration includes passing legislation and executive actions that uphold our values and meet the following goals:

  • Compassionate, effective pandemic relief for all. We grieve the hundreds of thousands lost to COVID-19. Families struggle to put food on the table, pay bills, and protect their health. Essential workers and healthcare providers are traumatized. All elected officials must immediately distribute more emergency payments that keep our neighbors afloat, prevent people from losing their homes, robustly fund vaccine distribution, and provide needed funding for overstretched state and local governments.
  • Justice for Black Communities and ending systemic racism.  Countering the effects of white supremacy is a moral necessity. We urge our elected officials to divest federal resources from incarceration and policing, invest in new approaches to community safety, and redistribute funding to build healthy, sustainable and equitable communities that affirm Black lives and dignity.
  • Justice and dignity for LGBTQ people. We demand federal protections that uphold dignity and equal justice by ensuring that no one is discriminated against in housing, employment, public accommodations, or education because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Religious freedom must be a shield that protects us all, not a sword used to discriminate against the LGBTQ community.
  • Dignity, family unity and citizenship for all immigrants. People who come to this nation seeking a better life are essential members of our communities and congregations. We demand humane and fair immigration reform that treats all people with dignity, provides a path to citizenship for all who want it, and ends enforcement measures that further harm our communities.
  • Building an inclusive democracy for all people. The right to vote is the foundation of a government that upholds dignity, freedom and justice for all. Our leaders must ensure that every voter in every jurisdiction can cast their ballot freely, easily, safely, and with full confidence that their vote will count. Ending voter suppression and partisan gerrymandering, and safeguarding against attacks on election integrity are critical to the survival of democratic government that puts the will of the voters before the interests of a wealthy few who undermine our system for their own gain.

People of faith have a moral responsibility to demand public policies that uphold dignity and justice for our neighbors and all families. The 100-day agenda charted here is an important step in the right direction, but only the beginning. In a nation driven by white supremacy, radical individualism, and systems tilted in favor of the wealthiest few, we have much work ahead. Join us in this journey.
