Immigrant communities have been resilient in pushing for a pathway toward citizenship for all. The House is set to vote on two bills that provide long overdue pathways to citizenship for more than 3 million immigrants. The American Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6) and the Farm Workers Modernization Act (H.R. 1537) are bills that will put families first and uphold a democracy that reflects the dignity of all people.

As a person of faith, I am writing to urge you to vote YES on the American Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6) and vote YES on the Farm Workers Modernization Act (H.R. 1537). These two pivotal bills will create pathways to citizenship for more than 3 million immigrants and help to uphold our democracy and protect families.

For far too long the immigrant community has had to suffer separation and deportation from their families or be hidden in sanctuaries to protect themselves. No matter what we look like, how we pray or where we were born, we all have human dignity and our policies and laws should honor that for everyone.

These two bills are our pathway forward to creating a system that promotes full immigration reform and prioritizes keeping families together and extends welcome to all who seek protection from protection. This is the start to repairing the damage and building a multiracial democracy that provides opportunities and access for all. However, we must also acknowledge the need to eliminate any criminalization bars or exclusions preventing predominantly black and brown immigrants from eligibility of becoming a citizen.

Again, I urge you to vote YES for the American Dream and Promise Act (H.R.6) and the Farm Workers Modernization Act (H.R. 1537) when these bills come to the house floor.
