Tell Your Representative:
I am writing to urge you to support the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans (H.R. 40) when it reaches the floor of the House of Representatives. As a person of faith, I believe that we must repent for instances of injustice by acknowledging and providing redress. This legislation will work to repair generations of inequality, racial terrorism and continued violence experienced in Black communities. Black people are struggling today under the economic burden our collective past has unjustly placed upon them and their families, just like the descendants of once-enslaved peoples around the world. We cannot truly have justice and liberty for all people until we begin to seriously consider and make the necessary steps toward reconciliation. Please support this legislation when it arrives at the floor of the House of Representatives.
